Drug And Alcohol Policy

MediCarriers is committed to providing safe and reliable transportation services. Because we
are responsible for transporting patients and operating company vehicles, all driving positions are
classified as safety-sensitive under federal and state law.

  1. Drug-Free Requirement (DOT/Federal Law)
Federal Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations prohibit the use of marijuana (including
medical marijuana) and other controlled substances by individuals in safety-sensitive positions. All
NEMT drivers are subject to pre-employment, random, and post-accident drug and alcohol testing.
  2. Medical & Recreational Marijuana
Although Nevada and other states may permit medical or recreational marijuana, federal law still
classifies marijuana as an illegal substance. Because this position is safety-sensitive and federally
regulated, the use of marijuana (medical or otherwise) is strictly prohibited for drivers.
  3. Prohibited Conduct
Applicants or employees who test positive for marijuana or other prohibited substances cannot be hired
or remain employed as NEMT drivers. Reasonable accommodation obligations under state law do not
extend to safety-sensitive or DOT-regulated positions.
  4. Other Positions (Non-Driving Roles)
Non-driving staff (dispatchers, clerical, administrative roles) are not subject to DOT testing. However,
impairment while on duty will not be tolerated.
